CHEYENNE, WYOMING - The mother of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Zorn says her son knew early in life that he wanted to join the military, and he planned to spend his career in the service.

Zorn died Monday in Tal Afar, Iraq, from injuries suffered in the roll-over crash. He was 35.

Zorn grew up in Upton, Wyoming, and graduated from Upton High School.

JoAnn Zorn, of Wright, says her son was on his third tour in Iraq when he was killed.

During a 15-year military career, Zorn had been stationed across the United States and in Germany, Saudi Arabia and Korea.

Friends and family are remembering Zorn as a kindhearted person.

He is survived by his parents, Myron and JoAnn of Wright, a brother, a grandmother and others. Funeral arrangements are pending.
