CHEYENNE, WYOMING - A spokesman says the one Wyoming Army National Guard soldier at Fort Hood Army base in Texas is accounted for and safe after a mass shooting there.

The Army says 12 people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting rampage at the Texas post Thursday afternoon. Wyoming Guard spokesman Brandon Quester says only one Wyoming Guard soldier was at the Texas base on Thursday and that person wasn't harmed in the shootings.

Quester says about 700 Wyoming Army National Guard soldiers trained at the Texas base this spring on their way to deployment in the Middle East. A spokesman at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne has no immediate comment on whether security precautions were enhanced at the post.
