Game and Fish: Watch for wildlife along roads

LANDER, WYOMING - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is asking drivers to watch out as big-game animals migrate between their summer and winter ranges.

Many roads in Wyoming cross traditional migration routes for elk, deer and antelope. Also, it's mating season. That means many big-game animals are on the move and easily distracted.

Daniel Beach, a game warden trainee for the Game and Fish Casper office, says drivers need to be extra cautious along roads that cross through tall brush or trees.

The department says slowing down, expecting to encounter wildlife and scanning the sides of the road for animals are all good ideas to keep in mind while driving in Wyoming this time of year.
