GREEN RIVER, WYOMING - Federal officials are working on a new management plan for the little-known Cokeville Meadows National Wildlife Refuge that could open the property to the public.

The refuge lies along a 20-mile stretch in western Wyoming's Bear River Valley. It was created nearly 20 years ago as a haven for migratory birds and riparian habitat.

The refuge has never been open to public use, but a new plan could make it larger and open it to a variety of uses, including hunting and fishing.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service spokesman Carl Millegan says the agency hopes to complete the management plan for the refuge over the next two years.
