CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Homeless shelters in Cheyenne say they're seeing an increase in homeless people.

Now Virginia Sellner, director of the Welcome Mat, says the day shelter used to serve about 20 people a day but now as many as 52 people are stopping by.

Richard McCullough with the Cheyenne Crossroads Clinic, which provides health care to the homeless, says his clients used to be only single men between 25 and 43 years old, but now he's treating more families.

And COMEA House executive director Teresa Garrido says the homeless shelter is packed and about 40 percent of the new applicants for services say their previous address was in Laramie County, indicating that they aren't part of the transient population.
