CHEYENNE, WYOMING - A tornado in southeastern Wyoming last week has stirred up excitement among weather scientists.

A team of tornado researchers was able to set up special equipment and video cameras to document and gather information about the tornado in rural Goshen County from its inception until it dissipated. The tornado formed in a secluded, open area and did not hurt anyone.

It was also captured by The Weather Channel, which is tracking the researchers chasing tornadoes around the countryside. Scott Carpenter of the National Weather Service in Cheyenne says the information gathered from the Wyoming tornado should help increase the understanding of tornadoes and hopefully lead to identifying early warning indicators.
