CASPER, WYOMING - Two major Wyoming coal producers will be investing millions of dollars into clean-coal research at the University of Wyoming.

Peabody Energy will invest $2 million, and Arch Coal Inc. $1.5 million at the UW School of Energy Resources. Details of just how the donations will be spent are being finalized. The two companies are based in St. Louis and both have several coal mining operations in Wyoming.

The donations will be doubled under the state's matching funds program for advanced coal research.
