CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso is praising John McCain's pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for a running mate.

Barrasso is at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn. He says Palin is strong on Second Amendment rights, knows energy issues and knows public lands issues. Barrasso says Palin's speech Wednesday night "electrified" the convention audience, and that included the delegates from Wyoming.

Barrasso has been at the convention since Tuesday. He says he will be spending much of his time with the Wyoming delegation before returning to Wyoming on Friday. Wyoming's senior senator, Mike Enzi, was at the convention earlier in the week.
