CHEYENNE, WYOMING - A Wyoming inmate serving a life sentence for sexual assault has died in an Oklahoma prison.

Melinda Brazzale, spokeswoman for the Wyoming Department of Corrections, says inmate James Brown, 63, died Monday at the North Fork Correctional Facility in Sayre, Oklahoma. Brown had suffered from an extended illness. An autopsy will be performed on Brown.

Brown was housed in Oklahoma due to lack of room in Wyoming prisons. Judge J.T. Langdon in 1990 sentenced him to serve a life sentence.
