BAGGS, WYOMING - The mayor of Baggs says efforts to build up the banks of the Little Snake River kept rising water out of the southern Wyoming town Tuesday.

Mayor Linda Corners says members of the Wyoming Army National Guard worked overnight Monday and throughout the day to assist the town in filling up 2,000 sandbags and placing them at low points along the river.

Officials say low-lying pasture land in southern Carbon County experienced some flooding, but there were no reports of injuries or property damage from the rising water. The National Weather Service extended a flood watch for the Baggs area until Wednesday afternoon.

Streams and rivers in parts of the state are already running high with mountain snowpack runoff. Weather officials say a forecast including the possibility of rain could lead to flooding. A flood watch was issued for Johnson and most of Natrona counties for Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.
