CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Lingering snow will continue to keep many campgrounds on the Medicine Bow National Forest and the Laramie Peak Unit closed over Memorial Day weekend.

U.S. Forest Service officials say that camping will be possible at unimproved sites at lower elevations in many areas. But they say many of the established public campgrounds will remain closed. The agency also says that dead trees pose a hazard at many campgrounds in the area. The campgrounds won't open until crews can remove the dead trees.

The Forest Service says people should check with their local ranger districts to find out whether particular campgrounds are open.
