CASPER, WYOMING - A Lander man accused of dragging a pedestrian for more than a mile under his SUV while driving drunk has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Casper lawyer Don Fuller represents the defendant, 40-year-old Doug Downs. Fuller says the agreement calls for Downs to plead guilty to separate charges of driving under the influence and driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury. In exchange, prosecutors will drop a charge of aggravated assault.

Police say Downs hit Jeffrey Irene of Casper in a bar parking lot in December and dragged him underneath his SUV for more than a mile before stopping. Irene suffered massive injuries and was released from the hospital this month.
