CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Last week's decision by the California Supreme Court declaring that laws banning same-sex marriages in that state are unconstitutional may prompt another attempt to ban the recognition of such marriages in Wyoming.

John Birbari of Lander is chairman of a group called the Wyoming Family Coalition. The group has been working for the past five years to change Wyoming law to ban the recognition of same-sex marriages performed in other states.

A bill that would have banned recognition of same-sex marriages cleared the Wyoming State Senate last year but died on a tie vote in a House Committee.
