CODY, WYOMING - Instead of using a pencil and paper, people taking the state's written driver's license exam will now be using a computer.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation's Driver Services will be piloting an automated driver's license exam system in Cheyenne over the next few weeks. After the pilot phase is finished, 65 computers will be installed at the 29 driver's license locations throughout the state by June 20.

WYDOT spokesman Cody Beers says the new system will be a time-saver for drivers and employees alike. Beers says the automated system will eliminate the need to manually score tests, and will make the testing more efficient and faster.
