CHEYENNE, WYOMING - Sen. John Barrasso is planning to kick off his campaign for the U.S. Senate on Monday.

The Republican said Thursday that he will make campaign announcements in three Wyoming cities. The first announcement will be in Thermopolis on Monday morning. That will be followed by an announcement in Casper at noon and at the state Capitol in Cheyenne on Monday afternoon.

Gov. Dave Freudenthal appointed Barrasso to the Senate last summer following the death of Sen. Craig Thomas. Barrasso is a physician and a former state senator from Casper. So far, no Republicans are running for Barrasso's seat. Two Democrats have announced that they are running, Gillette attorney Nick Carter and former state Sen. Keith Goodenough of Casper.
