GILLETTE, Wyo. - Sheriff's officials in Campbell County say they're investigating the theft of more than $35,000 in equipment and supplies from a coal mine.

The allegedly stolen items include 641 pairs of coveralls and several thousand pairs of gloves, as well as welding equipment, grinders, pencils and pens. Investigators say the thefts by a retired worker at the mine's warehouse began back in the 1980s. The suspect has not yet been identified, but Campbell County Sheriff Bill Pownall expects charges to be filed this week.

Investigators say they're not sure why the man stole the equipment because he apparently didn't sell any of items.
