CODY, WYOMING - Three choppers came to the rescue when a helicopter crashed in the Washakie Wilderness west of Cody Tuesday afternoon.
Park County Search and Rescue coordinator Kirk Waggoner said the helicopter was carrying four passengers. A medical flight from Idaho Falls brought one passenger to West Park Hospital. That passenger was treated for a back injury. Waggoner says the three other passengers, including a six month old baby were unharmed.
Waggoner told KULR 8 the helicopter originated in Canada, and was trying to fly from Helena to Riverton when it made a hard landing near Hardpan Basin at the top of Ptarmigan Mountain. Ptarmigan is about 30 miles southwest of Cody in the Washakie Wilderness. Three helicopters brought in crash survivors and rescue workers. Those helicopters were from Idaho, Worland, and from Montana's National Guard unit in Billings.
