Lovell Shooting Deaths

By Penny Preston

LOVELL, WYOMING - Two people were killed in Lovell Monday afternoon.
Police chief Nick Lewis said 22-year old Brenda Lee Davila and 23-year old Steven D. Lopez were shot in front of a home in the 100 block of Carmon Avenue in Lovell. That home was a half block away from the Lovell Elementary School playground. Lewis would not say whether the shooting was a murder-suicide, but he did say the victim and the suspect had a domestic relationship.
Lewis said Davila and Lopez had recently moved back to Lovell, where Lopez had graduated from high school. Lewis told KULR 8 there was an argument before the shooting occurred. Lewis said there were several witnesses to the shooting, including members of the family. Lewis said, "This couple had two small children, and then there was some other children also at the residence. I'm being told that initially there was five younger children and that they were in and around the yard at the time that this occurred."
Lewis said all three Lovell schools were locked down right after the shooting. He said the lockdowns were cancelled as soon as police determined the suspect had been shot and killed.
