Officials identify boater missing at Glendo

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The kayaker missing at Glendo State Park has been identified as 21-year-old Aaron Thomas Lopez of Cheyenne.

Gary Schoene (SHAY'-nee) is spokesman for the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources. He says crews continued on Wednesday to search for Lopez.

Schoene says Lopez was reported missing Sunday evening.

Lopez went out in a kayak after 9 p.m. Sunday to try to retrieve a pontoon boat that had drifted away in the southeastern part of Glendo, near the dam. Water conditions were choppy at the time.

Platte County Sheriff Steve Keigley says Lopez is a seasonal employee of the Game and Fish Department and was off duty when he disappeared.
