Adrian Bantjes (BANT-jez) was an associate professor who focused on Latin American history. He had been at UW since 1991.

According to a statement from UW, the 50-year-old Bantjes was killed in a head-on crash at about 8:15 p.m. Friday, about 11 miles south of Saratoga on Wyoming Highway 130. Bantjes' wife and daughter were also injured in the crash.
