JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — A new irrigation system is being installed at the National Elk Refuge in northwest Wyoming.

Refuge spokeswoman Lori Iverson tells the Jackson Hole News and Guide that the system is about 85 to 90 percent complete.

She says it won't be completed until next spring.

The $3.76 million project will increase the amount of irrigated land on the refuge from an average 930 acres to 5,035 acres. The intention is to provide more natural forage for elk and bison on the 25,000-acre reserve.
