2 drivers killed on I-25 as trucks hit head-on

DOUGLAS, Wyo. (AP) — Two Casper men are dead after their trucks collided head-on on Interstate 25 near Douglas.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says 33-year-old Randall W. Klemann died at the scene of Friday night's crash, while 51-year-old William E. Welsbacher was rushed to a hospital where he died.

The crash occurred along a stretch of roadway where lanes in both directions were reduced because of construction.

The patrol says Welsbacher was southbound when his truck somehow veered across the median and into the northbound lane. It says hard brake marks on the roadway indicate Klemann saw a truck coming before impact. The collision destroyed the cabs of both vehicles.

The patrol says Welsbacher was traveling without lights and that was a factor in the 8:30 p.m. crash.
