RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) — A jury in Rawlins has found a 23-year-old man guilty of attempted murder in the shooting of another man last year.

Timothy David Kramer faces life in prison.

He was convicted in the March 4, 2009, shooting of Steven Devore. Police say the shooting happened after an argument in a Rawlins bar.

The defense did not dispute that Kramer shot Devore but said he did it to protect his family from threats Devore made. They also argued Kramer suffers from a mental illness.

The Rawlins Daily Times reports that after the verdict was read Friday, two men in attendance started yelling expletives at the jury and at Carbon County Attorney Carl Rerucha.

Police identified the men as relatives of Kramer. Rerucha declined to pursue charges against them.
