Health Dept conducts study of Wyo. dental healthCHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A new study finds that most schools in Wyoming do not have the recommended levels of fluoride in their water. And children with untreated tooth decay who attended those schools are more likely to need urgent dental care. The study was released by the state Health Department on Tuesday. The study involved screening some 5,300 third graders as well as surveying pregnant women and seniors about dental health. State Health Department Director Brent Sherard says it's the first comprehensive report on oral health in Wyoming in more than 20 years. He says oral health is important to the overall health of individuals and the study can help guide future policy decisions about how to improve oral health of Wyoming residents. |
