MISSOULA - A 37-year old St. Ignatius man who sold explosives illegally has been sentenced to just over three years in prison.

Donald P. Roberts was accused of trying to sell explosives without a proper license to an undercover FBI agent for $2,600 in June 2009. He got the explosives as payment for a debt owed him by someone in California, but they lacked the necessary elements to make them blow up.

Defense attorney Michael Donahoe says his client intended no harm and is not a "wannabe terrorist."

Roberts pleaded guilty to one federal count of dealing with explosive materials without a license.
