MISSOULA - A 25-year-old East Missoula man who pleaded guilty to felony drunken driving after his car plunged down a 300-foot embankment has been sentenced to five years with the state Department of Corrections.

Brandon Darrah appeared before District Judge Ed McLean on Wednesday for the Nov. 13 crash on Deer Creek Road east of Missoula. The crash came nine days after Darrah was placed on probation for his fourth DUI, also a felony.

Darrah fled the scene, but authorities caught up with him a short time later at his home. Prosecutors say his blood alcohol concentration was 0.182%, more than twice the legal limit.

Darrah's attorney says her client will spend 13 months in an alcohol rehabilitation program and could become eligible for prerelease or probation programs over the next five years. The full sentence was 20 years with 15 suspended.
