RED LODGE - A 66-year-old Fromberg man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison in the shooting death of his son.

Larry Daniels was convicted of murder last January in the death of 43-year-old Buddy Daniels, who was shot twice with a revolver on May 21. Daniels was sentenced Wednesday by Carbon County District Judge Blair Jones in Red Lodge.

Daniels had claimed at his trial that he shot his son in self-defense. But prosecutors said the victim was shot twice in the back. The judge imposed a restriction that Daniels must serve 20 years of his sentence before he is eligible for parole consideration.
