Yellowstone Mudslides

By Greg LaMotte

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - No one was injured but a mudslide forty-miles south of Cody on South Fork Road forced a rescue operation for stranded motorists.
The slide occurred around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon following heavy rains. The road will be closed through Thursday.
There was another mudslide at the east gate of Yellowstone National Park Tuesday night, in the same area as a major slide that happened this month, three years ago. But, park officials say it’s nowhere near as big as the last one.
The slide is across two lanes of traffic, and is about 50 feet long. It’s anywhere from 1-to-5 feet deep.
The gate is closed for now but is expected to re-open Thursday morning at 8 a.m.
