Missoula Food Bank tells donors to help others

MISSOULA - The Missoula Food Bank is making a donation plea of a different sort. Instead of asking for donations of food or money, the nonprofit is encouraging donors to look beyond Missoula when considering a donation.

Food Bank director Cynthia Lotty sent a letter recently inviting people to think not only about local families but those in far off places such as Haiti where food aid is urgently needed. She encourages people to give to the cause that is most compelling to them right now.

Lotty says the organization made the same suggestion after Hurricane Katrina. Although it serves Missoula, Lotty says the Food Bank is concerned about hunger wherever it occurs. Last year, the nonprofit served 55,000 people.

Wow, Cynthia you and the Food Bank are to be highly commended. Your generous nature to begin with seems to shine throughout the world. Not only do you act locally but you think and act globally. Thank you! Paul Harris Author, "Diary From the Dome, Reflections on Fear and Privilege During Katrina"
