MISSOULA - Authorities say a 78-year-old Stevensville rancher was killed by a bull he was trying to load into a trailer.

The man, whose name is being withheld until family can be notified, was killed Wednesday when the bull slammed him into a fence.

Ravalli County Sheriff's Lt. Steve Holton says the man died at the scene northeast of Stevensville. No one else was injured.
