BUTTE - Officials with the Butte-Silver Bow Health Department have confirmed that a Butte man has died of complications from the swine flu.

Assistant Health Officer Karen Billson says the man was in his 50s and died following the onset of a bacterial infection that led to pneumonia. She says the man suffered from other serious medical conditions.

Billson says the man died over a week ago, but the H1N1 diagnosis was confirmed on Monday. According to the most recent Department of Public Health and Human Services numbers, the death would be the state's eighth due to swine flu complications since August.
