90-year-old Billings golf clubhouse gets remake

HELENA - The iconic Hilands Golf Club clubhouse dating back nearly 90 years will soon be torn down. The club has decided to build a new clubhouse, and the old one is scheduled to be torn down later this month once asbestos removal is completed.

The current building was so old and inefficient that spending $4.4 million on a new one doesn't increase membership dues much because of savings generated by the new energy efficient building.

Officials expect dues to go up from $80 to $100 per month. The club expects the new building to be finished by early next summer.
