BOZEMAN - Matthew Crocker, the lead developer of a proposed 1,100-unit housing project in Bozeman, has filed for bankruptcy.

Crocker, the son of Yellowstone Club owner Edra Blixseth, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on Feb. 13, the same day a U.S. District Court in Colorado issued a warrant for his arrest. Crocker failed to appear for a scheduled court date to address a $13 million loan from Western Capital Partners LLC that he and Edra Blixseth had defaulted on.

The bankruptcy filing indicates Crocker owes money to at least 240 entities. The filing says he has assets of between $1 million and $10 million and debts between $10 million and $50 million.

Blixseth and Crocker were both scheduled to appear in court in Colorado recently for a "debtor's exam," in which Western Capital sought to discover the existence and location of assets.

Neither showed up and arrest warrants were issued; however they are only valid in Colorado.
