Family members gather to remember toddler

GREAT FALLS - Family members of a 2-year-old boy whose body was found last week in the trunk of his mother's car say they are shocked and hurt by his death.

James Many White Horses II was last seen with his mother, 31-year-old Summer Many White Horses, on July 21. That night, Summer Many White Horses was in a car crash in Great Falls and was arrested on several charges, including driving under the influence.

County Attorney Brant Light says she was taken to jail, and her car was towed to a repair shop. The woman told police on Friday that her son had been in the trunk of the car since the night of the crash. Police found the boy's body Friday afternoon.

On Saturday, family members gathered in Browning to remember James. Elissie Buffalo, Summer Many White Horses' aunt, said he was an active, happy child who was loved dearly.
