BOZEMAN - Work has begun on Montana State University's $15.7 million animal bioscience building.

Construction on the three story, 40,000-square-foot facility is expected to be complete in 2010. The facility will house the Department of Animal and Range Sciences, which is currently housed in the 101-year-old Linfield Hall.

Jeff Jacobson, dean of the College of Agriculture, says the school's current facilities for animal and range science are antiquated.

Most of the building's cost, $12.5 million, came from private donations. Evelyn B. Wanke of Rudyard gave the largest single private donation of $2.7 million. Another $2.7 is still needed to complete the third floor of the building, where the research laboratories eventually will be located.
