BUTTE - A 38-year-old Butte man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison with five suspended for stabbing his stepfather in the abdomen during an argument in February.

Larry J. Evans had previously pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon. He was sentenced Thursday by District Judge Kurt Krueger, who gave Evans credit for the 212 days he spent in jail since his arrest for the Feb. 4 stabbing.

The court also recommended that Evans spend part of his sentence in the Nexus Program, which treats inmates for drug addiction. Krueger ordered Evans to pay $11,000 for medical costs incurred by Tate Ferda.
