FORTINE - The state wildlife department says two wolves that chased cattle near Fortine, in northwestern Montana, were killed Thursday.

The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks says officials in the federal Wildlife Services agency killed a 90-pound male and a 70-pound female in a pack that had killed a cow and three calves about three weeks earlier.

The department says the wolves shot were observed chasing cattle on private land Thursday. Officials in a helicopter shot the wolves.
