BUTTE - A Butte hotel is expected to close at the end of the month after about 30 years in the city.

Staff at the Copper King Hotel and Convention Center told reporters with KXLF-TV and The Montana Standard that they weren't taking reservations for later this year because the hotel is closing at the end of September. The hotel's owner and manager did not return media calls seeking comment.

Mark Lucich, director of the Butte-Silver Bow chamber of Commerce, said he was aware the hotel would be closing, but didn't want to comment until hotel management announced the closure. Chamber records show the hotel has 146 rooms, a swimming pool, convention hall and a bar. Lucich said he didn't know how many employees the hotel has.
