BUTTE - A former Butte-Silver Bow County facilities manager has reached a plea agreement in a case charging him with stealing from the county and two nonprofit organizations.

Under the plea agreement filed in District Court Tuesday, Gary Lean is expected to plead guilty on Sept. 15 to four counts of felony theft and one count of tampering with evidence in exchange for a four-year suspended prison term.

Lean has also agreed to pay nearly $38,000 in restitution. Prosecutors say Lean used county money to fund concrete work and to buy items mostly used to remodel his cabin. He was also charged with writing checks on the accounts of the Butte Sports Foundation and Butte Figure Skating Club to pay personal credit card bills, insurance premiums and other expenses.
