Couple charged with impersonating police

MISSOULA - A Missoula couple has been charged with robbery and impersonating police officers after a group of teen boys said the two took sodas and candy from them.

Maksim Chinikaylo and Anna Chinikaylo were charged Wednesday and remain jailed on $50,000 bail each. Court records say the two pulled up beside a group of teens early Wednesday, identified themselves as police officers, asked the boys their ages and if they had been drinking.

The teens, who had just been to a convenience store to buy snacks, said the man threatened them with physical violence if they did not hand over a paper bag they were holding. The teens gave them the bag, expecting it to be returned after they found it did not contain alcohol. Instead, prosecutors say the man asked the woman if he should "cap them," and then drove away. The boys called 911 from a nearby bowling alley.
