POLSON - The Sanders County sheriffs office is investigating an animal neglect case in which four of 16 horses died of what appears to be dehydration.

Deputy Dave Hedley says the horses were discovered in a field east of Hot Springs on Friday. Hadley says they didn't have access to water. Three of the horses had already died. A fourth horse, a colt, died later. Hadley says the county needs help from the public in the form of donations of hay, water troughs and portable tanks to shuttle water. He says they also need cash for past and future veterinary bills.
