BUTTE - Thirty to 40 items owned by the late Evel Knievel, from an X-ray of his broken bones to memorabilia signed by celebrities - will be sold at a silent auction during this week's Evel Knievel Days in Butte. The proceeds will help fund the festival.

Festival organizer Bill Rundle says the auction will be an opportunity to get one-of-a-kind pieces and contribute to the festival's future.

In the past, a dinner with Evel was held during the festival to raise money. However, with Evel gone, his widow Krystal Knievel says they needed to find new way to bring in extra revenue.

The auction begins at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Thornton Building, on the corner of Broadway and Wyoming. There is a $25 entrance fee and the auction closes at 4 p.m. Saturday.
