Funeral scheduled for Denton teens

DENTON - A combined funeral service will be held Thursday for the four teenagers from Denton who were killed in a weekend traffic crash.

The victims of the one-vehicle rollover were 17-year-olds Jace Jelinek and Kale Phelps, and 14-year-olds Kade Phelps and Dayne Heble. Kale and Kade Phelps were brothers.

Fergus County Coroner Dick Brown says a funeral service for the boys is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Denton's football field, with a reception to follow at the Denton City Park. Authorities say six people were in the vehicle Saturday morning when it drifted onto the shoulder of Montana Highway 81, and rolled when the driver overcorrected. The vehicle caught fire after ending up overturned in a ditch.

The two survivors escaped before the vehicle caught fire and suffered minor injuries. Brown says the boys were traveling to Lewistown to compete in a summer basketball league when the crash occurred.
