GREEN RIVER, WYOMING - Several thousand residents of the Bridger Valley in southwest Wyoming were left without water after spring runoff overwhelmed a local water treatment plant.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued a boil-water order for the valley's water supply before officials shut down water distribution Tuesday afternoon. The Bridger Valley Joint Powers Board supplies water to Mountain View, Lyman, Fort Bridger and some rural areas in the valley. Workers on the board were working on Wednesday to restore water distribution.

Officials say spring runoff caused complications at the water treatment facility just south of Mountain View.
