GREAT FALLS - A Houston company that plans to begin work on a natural gas power plant north of Great Falls late this year or early next year, says the project will also include a peaking plant.

Montgomery Energy plans a 275-megawatt power plant that will cost up to $300 million. Company officials have also announced plans to add a $95 million 125-megawatt peaking plant that can be used to fulfill higher demand for power. Montgomery has also been negotiating with NorthWestern Energy to lower the cost of connecting to NorthWestern's transmission lines.

Dan Hudson, president of Montgomery Energy Partners, says the project is still working to line up customers. He says the design is complete and the financing is in place.
