HELENA - During the 35th anniversary of the Roe versus Wade decision, Montana voters will revisit the decision on a women's rights issues.

Pro-choice advocates rallied Tuesday in opposition to Constitutional Initiative 100, a proposed amendment that would take current law back to pre- Roe V. Wade standards. The group, Montanans for Safe and Healthy Families, says no politician or state agency has a place in a woman's pregnancy.

"There are so many things that can go wrong in a pregnancy and women must be able to make decisions that are best for them and their families with their doctor," expectant mother and advocate Autumn Coleman said.

The initiative is sponsored by Constitutional Representative Rick Jore of Ronan. Jore unsuccessfully presented the same idea to the 2007 Legislature. He says the rights of a fetus have long been ignored by the Roe versus Wade decision.

In regards to the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision, Jore says, "We need to step back and honestly ask ourselves if we took a wrong turn somewhere and where that turn has taken us or will take us."
