Potential Mont. jurors stage 'mutiny' in pot case

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — A Missoula County prosecutor says potential jurors staged a "mutiny" during a felony drug case in a move that authorities worry could be a game-changer when it comes to future attempts at prosecuting drug cases in the state.

Nearly all 27 Missoula County residents during the jury selection process on Thursday told District Court Judge Dusty Deschamps there was no way they would convict anybody of having a couple of buds of marijuana.

Deschamps then called a recess in the case involving Touray Cornell, who has a long criminal history and faced a felony charge of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs.

The Missoulian reports that during the break, Deputy Missoula County Attorney Andrew Paul worked out a plea agreement, and Cornell entered an Alford plea on Friday and was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 19 suspended.

Organize informational protests at your local courthouse, get information out to the public and potential jurors about jury nullification, protest the waste of resources, protest the unconstitutional "war on drugs".Get the schedule for upcoming cases regarding Marijuana and do what you can to make a difference.

did the whole population of missoula "drink the kool-aid" and thus are just as ignorant (or stupid)as these jurors and Justin Michels?

Seeing as this plant is now a recognized form of medicine here in Missoula, how exactly did law enforcement expect citizens to act? Perhaps they should also take into consideration that our nation's Controlled Substances Act precludes all legitimate medicines from being "schedule I narcotics"--meaning that our failed prohibition is now illegal anyway, despite the stated ignorance of our Attorney General's office and lack of accurate reporting from the media..
