Teen gets 15 years for fatal Billings crashBILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A 19-year-old Lodge Grass man who was involved in a crash that killed one teenager and injured three others — one seriously — has been sentenced to 30 years in prison with 15 years suspended. Jeremy Flatmouth was sentenced in District Court on Thursday for vehicular homicide stemming from the early morning crash on Aug. 8, 2009, that killed 19-year-old Joshua Yarlott-Old Bull of Lodge Grass. Flatmouth was drunk when his car veered off Zimmerman Trail, a winding road that climbs to the top of the Rimrocks in Billings. His blood-alcohol content at the time was 0.27 percent, more than three times the legal limit for driving. Judge Gregory Todd added concurrent sentences of 10 years in prison for felony negligent vehicular assault and one year each for two misdemeanor counts of negligent vehicular assault. Flatmouth, who vowed at the hearing never to drink alcohol again, also must pay $500,000 in restitution. Most of that will go toward the medical expenses of Cyril Not Afraid, who was paralyzed from the chest down. |
