Wyoming’s State of Mouth

WYOMING - A new Wyoming study said rural residents need better access to dental care.

The "State of the Mouth" report lists fluoride levels in the water at 3/4 of Wyoming elementary schools below the recommended range. It also found that residents of rural areas do not have enough access to dental care, resulting in excessive tooth decay in rural areas.

Experts said oral health has an effect on the whole body and should be taken seriously. This is the first oral health study in Wyoming in more than 20 years.

More than 3,000 professionals (including over 270 dentists) urge the US Congress to stop water fluoridation citing scientific evidence that fluoridation, long promoted to fight tooth decay, is ineffective and has serious health risks.
