BILLINGS - A mother of three is busy getting presents ready for not only her children, but also for thirty needy families throughout the state. As Computer 4 Kids executive director Meaghan Kitts provides needy families with refurbished computers.

"you get excitement," she said about giving the computers away. "You get to see the kids so excited so happy. When you get a five-year-old who says, 'this is the first time I've ever had a computer' it's just like-- woah."

This year they've had more requests than ever.

"Pretty much every school is using computers now from kindergarten to senior year," Kitts said.

Thirty computers are ready to go to needy families throughout the region. Computer 4 Kids gives out computers all year, but Kitts said Christmas is their busiest season.

"We take a lot of things for granted in our lives," Kitts said. "Being a part of an organization that is so involved in the community, it makes you realize there's so much you can do for a family even something as small as giving them a computer."

Dolores McCarthy picked up her computer Monday morning.

"This is awesome because we can't afford a computer," McCarthy said. "I'm on disability and I'm a cancer survivor and this is just like a really good Christmas present for my kids. A computer is everything. We're going to the library usually and sometimes there's a line and I'm just really glad we have it."

As McCarthy drives off with her new computer, Kitts waits to make the day of 29 other families in the region.

Computer 4 Kids gave away 25 computers in 2001, the organization's first year. Now they average one and a half donations per day.
